About Me
Hi I’m Isabelle! I’m preparing for the second semester of my junior year at the University of Richmond in Virginia. I am a Leadership Studies Major with a minor in Journalism and Business. Once a week, tutor a university faculty member once a week in English as a second language, as well as training them on university computer software. As a member of the Honor Council I reach preliminary verdicts on cases for students who have been accused of an honor code violation. Each week, I deliver formal and informal weekly presentations on my sorority’s activities to the Panhellenic Council. Last summer, I volunteered for a week at Camp Kesem at UR, a camp for children who have been affected by a parent’s cancer. I led the kids in various activities such as Color Wars, zip-lining at the lake, and making s’mores.

Last summer, I was an Child-Life Specialist Intern at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, New York. As an intern, I worked alongside Child Life Specialists on the pediatric floor to assist and comfort patients and families during their hospital stay. I helped plan and organize monthly educational programming and events such as the Talent Show, for the patients. At Richmond, I attended a selective camp for Robins School of Business students during January 2019 where I learned effective soft skills to operate in a professional setting. I even learned how to properly eat tomato soup!

Three of my main passions are volunteering, being adventurous and animals. During summer 2018, I traveled to Capricorn, South Africa, an impoverished area on the Western Cape, to volunteer at a local primary school through IVHQ. I designed and strategize individual lesson plans for students as well as assisted in educating and supervising over 50 children requiring counseling and mediation to ensure appropriate behavior. The children taught me how to jump rope properly, which handshakes were considered “cool”, and how to rock wearing my hair in 15 braids.

I jumped off the world's highest bungee-jumping bridge, went sky-diving and walked an elephant while I was in South Africa. I can safely say I will never bungee-jump again but I hope one day I am lucky enough to skydive in Europe because the view was incredible! I have been a student at St. Louis University in Madrid, Spain for the past four months. During my stay in Spain, I have visited 11 countries and 16 cities. In Europe, I went cliff-jumping off the Amalfi Coast, kayaking between the mountains in Interlaken, Switzerland and zip-lining in Toledo, Spain. I have gone on hikes in Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon as well as tried foods such as crocodile, duck, octopuses, snails, and rabbit. Two foods I have not eaten? Carrots and apples #imallergic

I am obsessed with dogs. So much so that I put the deposit for my dog, Cooper, down behind my parents back. I love ALMOST all animals. I am terrified of birds. I have been attacked twice and would rather be alone in a room with a bear than a bird! My dream was to become a dolphin trainer after I attended a show at SeaWorld in 2008, but I have since altered my academic path.

Lastly, I love public speaking but get insecure if I have to say the words: “Friday, Birthday or Towel.” I say them “in a weird way.” Enjoy my cite!
